eDrawer Paperless Office Solution

eDrawer, http://www.edrawer.com/ , is an integrated paperless office solution. The base price is around $1,500.

Any comments about this product would be appreciated. I can't tell what file format they use to store the documents in.

There customer base is substantial and diverse.

One of the testimonials indicated that the customer, an attorney, should have purchased more "file rooms". This raises the question whether the $1,500 covers enough storage for the typicall business.

I have been using their version 4, and love it. It has really been a time saver for our practice.

I work for a paperless office company, Efact Paperless Office , and we were wondering if you could write something about our system?

We are different in that we offer a document management appliance with integrated backup, CD burning, fax, and email as well as OCR, all with unlimited user licenses. We are very popular with real estate attorneys in the New England area. We would be happy to talk to you both about our system and about overall lessons of going paperless in different industries.

I purchased their system in 2006. At the time they offered the "enterprise edition" for around $1200.00 It was for unlimited users. It has worked fine for us. However when I upgraded to the version 4 they changed their licensing agreement. To my suprise and dismay, I now have to pay a yearly fee or the program stops functioning. Nice marketing strategy, but I am hostage now. Be sure you understand their licensing agreement before you submit your companies data to control of this company.

In our publication "How To Setup A Paperless Office", http://www.denvertax.com/paperless-filing/, we talk about being held hostage to a system as the upgrade price jumps up. Our recommendation is to use interchangeable components to work around price creep.

Using Version 5 and the document quality has really gone down. Documents a fuzzy while the actual scan document is crystal clear.

eDrawer displays a thumbnail of the actual document after its in eDrawer and if you rotate the document it screws up that thumb nail and will display blank pages if the document is saved after rotating it. To make things worse even though the original document is unaffected it isn't stored using the same document name as is displayed.

I love the idea of a paperless office. I work at a place that doesn't use a lot of paper and everytime I want to use paper I try to find a way to not use it. Thanks for sharing.

I would think actually making the move to a paperless office would be difficult, but ideal in saving time and money on supplies. Am definitely looking into this!
